Frequently Asked Questions

for the ChildbirthJoy Prenatal Hypnosis Series

Is the entire course completed in one evening and one weekend?

Yes, the course is nineteen total: the evening is three hours, Saturday is nine hours and Sunday is eight hours.

Lunch is about 1.5 hours, which leaves enough time to have a restaurant meal in the area.

When is the best time to complete the series?

In general, the earlier you complete the series, the better. Most women find that allowing themselves time to practice their hypnosis seems to be associated with a more comfortable birth.

Most women do the series somewhere between 20 and 32 weeks. You are considered "term" or at your due date as of 37 completed weeks of pregnancy. This means that a birth at 37 completed weeks is not considered premature or pre-term.

You might consider taking the series earlier to avoid the bad weather that can come with winter.

ALSO...classes can book up quickly - remember that you can register now and hold your space for the series you prefer. Once you register, you will receive your materials so that you can practice before the first class.

Will I remember everything if I take the course earlier?

In the ChildbirthJoy Prenatal Hypnosis Series, you will learn self-hypnosis and how you and your partner can hypnotize each other.

You won't forget how to do hypnosis - your skills will get better with practice.

And...remember that the free Relaxation Evenings are open to you and your partner - this is an ideal setting to ask me questions and brush up on your technique!

Are evening classes offered?

Sometimes - one of the main reasons I teach this series on the weekend is to reduce your travel time. Couples have come from as far north as Barrie, from beyond Peterborough in the east and St. Catherines in the west.

An evening series that takes place over five or six week needs to be started fairly early in the pregnancy. A weekend series can be completed easily for those couples who hear about it in later pregnancy.

What if my partner cannot make all of the hours of the series?

You and your partner will benefit from learning together, but if there are parts of the series that your partner cannot attend, you can fill him or her in after the fact.

The evening class is introductory and the series builds over the weekend.

Of course, I'm the teacher, so if you ask me, everything taught through the entire series is important...but if I had to choose, I'd say that the most important material for your partner is on the Sunday.

What if my partner cannot make ANY of the series?

If your partner cannot attend at all, you are encouraged to bring someone else...especially anyone who will be at your birth.

In past series, clients have brought a sister, mother, friend or doula.

Space permitting, you could attend one series and your partner could attend another series.

ALSO...your partner is more than welcome to come to one (or more) of the free Relaxation Evenings.

Any childcare facilities?

I empathize with parents who have a child or children at home already, but at present, I am not set up for childcare coverage.

If there is the interest, I can make myself available to teach the series on consecutive weekdays to women who are preparing for a second or subsequent birth. If you are interested, let me know.

I took the ChildbirthJoy Prenatal Hypnosis series already and now I am expecting again. Are there refresher classes?

Yes, refresher classes are provided when two or more couples are interested, just let me know.

Clients who have previously taken the series usually have the materials from their course previously, so your course fee is reduced by the cost of the materials - instead of $330 it is $210 (plus hst).

Do you sell your materials separately?

My hypnosis recordings are available for sale on CD and MP3.

Check the link below for more information.

The book is still under revision, so it is currently only available to clients of the Hypnosis for Childbirth Prenatal Series. Once it is revised, it will be available for the general public.
